Hi, We use a customized version of the Word export using OLE. About 50 users are successfully able to use it to export modules to Word. I have less than 5 users who cannot - we get an OLE error (not even a DOORS dxl dialog box). We are using Windows 7. When a "good" user logs into a "bad" user's PC (using the good user's login credentials), they do not get the error. When a "bad" user logs into a "good" user's PC, they do get the error. No error if we export to Excel. I created a module with a single object and no data. Same problem. It seems like it is an issue with the "bad" users' profiles. I have no idea how to debug this thing. We have tried, in this order: delete and reinstall doors (didn't help) then delete and reinstall word (didn't help). We would really like to not "terminate" the employee (i.e., wipe their disk, reimage their pc, give them new username) because of audit trail issues for work they have done and are in the middle of now. Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this or proceed? Thanks, Daniel

Re: OLE error for a few users. Don't know how to debug Just in case anyone has a similar issue and sees this, we found the problem and fixed it. The problem was that the user did not have read permissions to all of the dxl on the server. There was a unique .dot file used for our customized DOORS export. It was located in the same directory as the standard doors.dot. These users did not have read permission for that directory. Once we got them the permission everything worked well.
We troubleshot the problem by planting print statements in the export dxl to see how far it got. Once we saw the area of code that was using the unique Word template file, we tested whether the user could read that directory and found they could not.
The OLE error message was generated by the DXL rather than by DOORS. We didn't realize that until we started combing through the code.
